Ren and Marie II: Stepping Off Kickstarter Campaign
I am extremely happy to report the Kickstarter campaign McCal and I have labored hard for the last few weeks has been approved, and is now live!
What is a Kickstarter Campaign?
Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform which allows creators of all sorts to get backing and funding to bring their ideas to fruition. Backers normally pledge what they can to get the project going, often times with a reward/product promised for the backer when the project is completed.
Kickstarter campaigns are all or nothing propositions: either I get all my funding or none of it. While backers are required to register and provide payment information at time of backing, no one is charged until the end of a SUCCESSFUL campaign. If the campaign succeeds, it then sits on the shoulders of the creator to fulfill promises and commitments to the backers. Kickstarter as a company takes great measures to ensure creator legitimacy as well as assessment of risks and challenges.
What I am asking for?
I am raising funds to pay for initial printing and illustration expenses. This campaign is looking to raise at least $5,000 to cover this part of the budget. The campaign will run until November 25th, 2017. This is the link to the campaign's site.
I am offering ten reward levels, most of which involve a direct product of this campaign. The descriptions of the rewards are in the gray boxes along the right side of the page. Most of the information you would need has been painstakingly included in the campaign, however do not hesitate to ask questions here or there.
If you have no desire to preorder any of the books or other items we are offering as rewards, but still want to help, you can to that too! Above the reward tier information is a field to "Make a pledge without a reward."
If you do pledge for a tier that needs a physical item shipped to you, be aware that there are shipping charges added to the price later, in proportion to the number of items being shipped.
Why using Kickstarter is important for this project?
The great majority of people who have supported my work to this point know McCal or myself personally; and we are very grateful. Kickstarter offers a window to expand the reach of Ren and Marie to beyond our own networks. Because of this we are encouraging as many people as possible to use the Kickstarter platform for their support. The more money and backers this campaign visibly gets, the more notice outsiders in this community will take. This idea can snowball on itself and propel the campaign to great success.
The ultimate goal of the Ren and Marie project is to deliver impactful, fun, and valuable stories to as many children (and adults) as possible. I would like to thank all of you for your continued support of this project!
